What is Segment 1
Michigan’s Graduated Driver Licensing Program (GDL) requires residents under the age of 18 to take two courses, Segment 1, what most people would call “drivers training” and Segment 2, a 3-day course that focuses on how driver actions affect safe driving, which takes place at least 6 months after Segment 1. Students are required to successfully complete 12 two-hour classes, 6 in-car driving lessons and earn a minimum 70% on a state-mandated test.
- Commitment to attend all 12 classes
- Commitment to be available during ANY/ALL daylight hours (excluding school day hours) during the session for six 2-3 hour driving lessons.
- All 3 pages of the contract filled out completely and submitted
- Copy of birth certificate, with the SS# blackened out showing student is at least 14 years, 8 months old.
- $345 course fee
Our Sessions
All classes will be held at Perry High School. Students are to enter through the W5 door on the west side of the building near the parking lot accessible from Keeney Street.
The State of Michigan now requires that you pre-register. They also restrict class size due to classroom square footage. Please email us to request a session.
